A site nestled in Kennington, located next to the Beefeater Gin Distillery, and that is currently being used to support the Northern Line Extension. Our proposals respond to the vibrant community growing around Kennington Lane and its distinctive historic and industrial characteristics.

The site itself has a rich history of industrial use, which we are adding by including over 2,700sqm of light industrial workspace alongside 139 homes.

    Given the vibrant community and the history surrounding the site at Montford Place, we opened a dialogue with local residents at the earliest opportunity. We took the time to share our initial thinking, but most importantly we listened to what they had to say about the area.

    The Foundry, 19 & 23 November 2019

    We shared our plans with the local community for the first time in November 2019 at our public exhibition. We welcomed over 65 people over the two days, and collected invaluable insight into our scheme that helped inform its evolution over the months ahead.

    We know not everyone can attend Public Exhibitions, so we decided to make participation easier by giving the people the chance to respond to our polls. Over 15,138 people visited our website while our polls were open, and we received close to 6,000 responses which helped us develop our proposals.

    Following our engagement with local residents, community groups, local councillors and online polls, we collated and reviewed the feedback received. Between November 2019 and January 2020, we considered how we could respond to the comments; as a result, we amended the architecture to respond to the industrial characteristics.

    We held our second-drop in session in February 2020, where people were given the opportunity to talk to the project team about our updated proposals. We heard a lot of stories about how Kennington has evolved in the last few decades, and the local community shared with us how significant the area’s heritage is to them.

  • Planning Application Validated

    Lambeth Council validated our planning application in April 2020 and invited consultation responses to our submission via its online portal.

We will provide our future residents, local employees and the existing community with active and vibrant landscape spaces. Our design references the site’s industrial past and uses a sustainable and diverse approach to planting, in order to deliver fresh contemporary spaces for users of all ages and mobilities.

At CLL, sustainable means more than the environment. It’s also about delivering for the local economy, and about designing a scheme with and for the existing community and about improving their quality of life. At Montford Place, our commitment to the economic, environmental, and social means we can maximise the positive impacts transforming the site will have, such as enhanced greening and delivering much-needed maker-space in Lambeth.

Connected Living at Montford Place

The homes being built will be connected to the world around them, with super-fast broadband and smart home technology could be integrated into the apartments

Our homes at Montford Place will be ideally located. They will benefit from being in close proximity to the Victoria and Northern lines, and an array of bus routes. Montford Place is also connected to London by an extensive cycle network providing easy access to Elephant & Castle, Victoria and beyond

At Montford Place, we’re proposing a variety of internal and external shared amenity spaces for our residents, including a roof terrace, gym, and workspace. All Connected Living London residents will  be able to access the shared resident amenity space at our developments; for example, if you live at Montford Place but an appointment takes you to Canning Town, you could work at our Limmo development
Montford Mews will establish a local hive of activity that people will visit, stop and socialise while the light-industrial workspace – which could be home to a range of creatives industries – will add to the vibrancy that is established in Kennington
